Project Description:
This
project required major renovations to the basement level and lower
courtyard at the Castetter Hall Biology Building on the University of
New
Mexico campus. A new ground level mechanical room was constructed at
the
northwest corner of the building including a new west side exterior
stairway
with access to the basement level.
Civil improvements included the construction of three new sanitary sewer manholes, realignment of a campus sanitary sewer line and modifications to the sidewalk and parking area on the west side of the building. The new mechanical room and lower level access stairway were integrated into the site changes. An existing eight-foot deep utility tunnel running along the west edge of the building had significant influence on design modifications for the campus sewer line that was displaced with construction of the new mechanical room.
